Christian men worth — podcast teaching with Kurtis Mercer reminding men their value is in Christ, not in circumstances or what they do.

Why Christian Men Worth Can’t Be Tied to Circumstances

The reason most men can’t sit in discomfort is this: they believe their value is tied to their circumstances.

If my wife leaves me, I’m worthless. If I fail as a father, I’m nothing. If I lose my job, I lose my worth.

That’s the lie so many of us carry. And I carried it too.

I thought if I wasn’t winning, if I wasn’t admired, if I wasn’t holding everything together, then I was nothing.

When My Life Fell Apart

I remember back when my life felt like it was unraveling.

My marriage on the rocks. My job unstable. My faith shaky.

I felt worthless because everything I tied my identity to was slipping through my fingers.

But that was the fire exposing me. That was God showing me the truth: Your worth was never in those things. It was always in Him.

The Anchor That Holds

Your worth is in Christ. You are beloved by God.

That’s the anchor no fire can touch.

When the world takes everything… When people let you down… When success fades… That anchor holds.

And here’s the shift that changes everything: It’s not about how much you love Him. It’s about how much He already loves you.

Because if your worth is tied to how much you love Him, you’ll fail every time. You’ll think:

“I didn’t pray enough today. I didn’t read enough. I didn’t lead my family perfectly. I must be failing.”

But your value is not in your effort. It’s in His finished work.

Why This Changes Everything

There is nothing you can do — no mistake you could ever make — that would take you out of His arms.

He was there in your worst. He’ll always be there to catch you.

That’s why you love Him — because He first loved you. That’s why you rise again after failing. That’s why you don’t give up when life feels like ashes.

And listen — I know what it feels like to put your worth in circumstances. If your wife’s angry at you, you feel worthless. If your kids are distant, you feel like a failure. If you can’t make the money you think you should, you feel like nothing.

I’ve been in that exact place. And it almost destroyed me.

But God broke through that lie. He showed me my worth was never in the fire — it was in Him.

Living From True Identity

And when you start living from that truth, everything changes.

You stop scrambling to prove yourself. You stop crushing yourself under the weight of expectations. You start standing steady because your foundation isn’t shifting sand — it’s Christ.

Your marriage, your fatherhood, your work — all of it stops being a performance and starts being an overflow.

So if you’ve been tying your worth to your circumstances, here’s the call:

Let go. Drop the armor. Stop making your value depend on what’s around you. Anchor it in Christ.

Because your circumstances don’t define you. Your Savior does.

This is the heart of Christian men worth — knowing your identity is secure in Christ, not in performance, success, or failure.

Fire is identity. Fire is you.
